Today’s marketing world is like a busy train station, filled with chaos and noise. Everyone is trying to get a piece of your customer’s attention: some by screaming, others by singing, dancing or whatever they come up with.

Whether it’s social media, or street banners, your average client sees dozens, if not hundreds of advertisements every day.

So what should you do? How can you get your perfect customer’s attention through all this noise?

1. They judge the book by it’s cover

Everything starts with the first impression…

Let’s say when you walk in for a meeting, whatever you are wearing and the way you present yourself, either gives you a chance or kills it right away.

Same goes with your perfect customer, when he/she sees your ad, specifically its headline.

A headline isn’t just the title of your advertisement. Instead, it determines if a client is going to read your ad or just scroll by.

No matter how good the rest of your video or written ad is, no one is going to see it, unless a good headline compels them to pay attention first.

But how do you come up with it? Is there a formula to write a good headline?

2. Ask yourself these questions

The key is to focus on the ideal client and what he/she craves, instead of your service or product. For example, if your business is making video ads for other businesses, you wouldn’t want to say “Best videography service” and show everyone how much you brag about your business.

Your perfect customer sees dozens of those kinds of ads anyway.

Instead, you highlight the results the client would get, with the unique touch that you are offering. This way the potential client is intrigued and HAS TO know more, what you have to offer!

To get better at writing the headlines, ask yourself these questions:

“What would my perfect client like to hear?

What’s the main problem that he’s struggling with?”

Make bold statements by delivering the answers to those questions.

3. The ultimate test

Once you are done writing a few options, then you choose the most appropriate headline for your ads. You can try my favorite “ultimate test” for it:

Would it work if you ONLY advertised the headline, without any visuals or additional text?

If the answer is yes, you know you’ve done well.

That’s THE KEY to win the battle for your perfect prospect’s attention.
